You all know me well, after nearly 6 years of posts and whines about life. I’m not sure how in-depth I’ve gone with my health issues, but know that every waking minute is a painful hell for me. Sometimes even the sleeping minutes are hell. I was recently given the opportunity to try Noxicare™ Natural Pain Relief Cream. So I thought I’d tell you a little about why I was so excited to try it.

Here’s a small laundry list of the things that makes me say, “Owww!”

1. Osteoarthritis
2. Fibromyalgia
3. Old surgery sites
4. Frequent falls

Normally I use a prescription gel that will take the pain right out of me, but every time I do, it’s another toxin in my body. So when I was given the opportunity to try Noxicare™ Natural Pain Relief Cream, I jumped. Which isn’t all that easy.

I will say that for my minor pains and aches Noxicare™ Natural Pain Relief Cream was spot on and took care of any pain that I had.  For some of my mild to moderate pain it helped, but not enough. When the pain was severe, it really didn’t touch it. But knowing that when I had the mild to moderate pain there was something I could use that wouldn’t put toxins in my system, was rather appealing.

I did have some minor issues with the product, and again, they were minor.

1. You feel like you need far more than you do. If you think you need one inch, use 1/2 and inch.
2. The cream was GREEN, I was worried about getting it on my sheets and clothing and that it would stain. It didn’t seem to, but I was still rather careful.
3. It said that it had no scent, which is far from true. I’m a bloodhound when it comes to smells and there definitely was a smell, but it was all herbal. No medicinal ick like you would expect.

So, all in all I’d whole heartedly recommend this product to anyone with mild/moderate pain issues.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Review: Gathering of Waters by Bernice L. McFadden

Jan 17th, 2012 Posted in Book review, Giveaway | 4 comments »

OMG – I have just read the most wonderful book by Bernice L. McFadden! Here, you need to hear what it’s about!

Description:

Gathering of Waters is a deeply engrossing tale narrated by the town of Money, Mississippi–a site both significant and infamous in our collective story as a nation. Money is personified in this haunting story, which chronicles its troubled history following the arrival of the Hilson and Bryant families.

Tass Hilson and Emmett Till were young and in love when Emmett was brutally murdered in 1955. Anxious to escape the town, Tass marries Maximillian May and relocates to Detroit.

Forty years later, after the death of her husband, Tass returns to Money and fantasy takes flesh when Emmett Till’s spirit is finally released from the dank, dark waters of the Tallahatchie River. The two lovers are reunited, bringing the story to an enchanting and profound conclusion.

Gathering of Waters mines the truth about Money, Mississippi, as well as the town’s families, and threads their history over decades. The bare-bones realism–both disturbing and riveting–combined with a magical realm in which ghosts have the final say, is reminiscent of Toni Morrison’s Beloved.

Review:

I’ve done a review before on a book of Ms. McFadden titled Glorious. The author wowed me with this book, and has done the same with Gathering of Waters. As you can tell from the description above, the book sounds WONDERFUL! But the book is so much more! The book is raw with emotion, life, and experience. Not only do you feel for the characters, you are transformed into the characters and experience everything that they do. I have said this on Twitter in regards to this book:

Finished this book today:http://t.co/OIgaTl5P@queenazsa is an astounding heart wrenchingly wonderful master of prose!

I mean this today as much as I meant it then. I am not sure there is enough praise that I can give this book.

In regards to the publisher, Akashic Books, it is proof to the company’s worth to have Ms. McFadden as one of their authors. Since I am a book snob, and find typos in books (even by the ‘biggest’ of authors) I can honestly say that the editors at this house are worth their weight in gold.

Here’s the good news! One of my wonderfully awesome readers is going to have a chance to read this wonderful book. Follow the directions on the Rafflecopter form below and enter today!

#Review and Rafflecopter Giveaway for Torani Syrups

Dec 21st, 2011 Posted in Product Review | no comment »

I am in no way a coffee guru, nor do I drink it on a regular basis. But Torani has changed my view of coffee, cookies, hot chocolate, teas, lemonade, etc. In the winter there is a likelihood that you will find me with a cup of coffee in my hand. Not only to warm the fingers, but the bones and soul as well. Unfortunately the summer months never see a cup of coffee, but there is a ton of tea in my life.

After trying the Torani syrups in my home for the past month, I have fallen in love. The Brown Sugar Cinnamon, even in sugar free, is heaven in a cup of hot chocolate. Even one of the neighbor boys comes over and asks for the ‘coffee stuff’ in his hot chocolate. I’ve tried it in coffee, teas, and cocoa and mmmmm, good. (Not just for Campbell’s soup anymore.)

I will admit that I was a tad bit disappointed in the Peppermint bottle. I’m not one for peppermint at all, and was wondering what in the world I was going to do with this. So, crazy adventurous as I am, I created a peppermint patty cookie. I’m still working the wrinkles out, but they are coming along good. Of course I have an eleven year old boy who taste tests things for me.

I was impressed by the fact that Torani had about 1,000,000 flavors in both sugar free and non-sugar free varieties. I will admit, I was aching to try the Bacon flavor, though I have no idea what I would have used it for. Maybe some bread with cheese in it. Mmmmm. I love Chai Tea Spice flavored anything so I can’t wait to try that one either. I’ve always wanted to try the Blood Orange flavor having never had a blood orange. (I know, I’ve been hiding under a rock.) I’ve heard that a lot of my blogger friends are in love with the Salted Caramel, but I couldn’t find that in my local store.

I have a huge deal for you today, 3 readers will get their very own coupon for a FREE bottle of Torani. This coupon is worth $8.00 and doesn’t expire until June 2012 which gives you tons of time to enjoy the flavors.

Please enter on the Rafflecopter form below.

NaNoWriMo and NaBloPoMo – Am I Nuts?

Nov 2nd, 2011 Posted in Life and Family | one comment »

This year I have decided that I am going to do NaBloPoMo and NaNoWriMo. I’m not quite sure what has gotten into my brain thinking that I can accomplish both. With NaNoWriMo I need to write 1,667 words a day for 30 days. Yesterday I managed a whopping 2,212! That is better than the 1,600 I had last year. Last year the world seemed to fall down around my ears and threaten to swallow me whole and leave nothing but the shell of who I am. This year I have gotten organized and refuse to let life kick me.

I’ve been working with SheSpeaks. I was lucky enough to get into their Cerra program. And now I’m in their Torani program. I’m so excited. It’s a great thing that the FedEx man wasn’t spotted dropping off that package, I might have kissed him right on the lips. I ripped it open right away and made myself a cup of coffee. Want to see what I got?

Yummy right? I’ll be doing a giveaway in the next week or so! So be on the look out!

Now for my thankfulness for today.

#2: I am thankful for my kids. No matter what I have been through with them, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love you all and can’t imagine life without you. A, J, C, C, C, C. I love you to pieces.

Thanks to BzzAgent – New cat food coupon opportunity.

Oct 14th, 2011 Posted in Life and Family | no comment »

Recently I was given the opportunity from BzzAgent.com to review Hills Science Diet Senior Age Defying 11+ Cat Food. You are told that you can see a difference in one month in the signs of aging.

I’m not sure if it was the fact that I have 4 cats and there is no possible way that I can get only one to eat out of one dish that I didn’t see any results. I’m quite sure if there was only one cat I would have noticed a difference. I do know however that the kitties LOVED the taste of the food in their bowl.

I have two high value $3.00 off coupons for the first two people who leave a comment with their email. Do it for the love of your kitty if nothing else.
